American Saint

Book, music & lyrics by Danielle Keiko Eyer & Halle Mitchell

Work in progress

  • Developed at New York University’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program — 2025-2026

American Saint follows Andy Sanders, a 24-year-old genderqueer person who cut ties with their family, leaving their small town of Colby, Ohio for Chicago, after their beloved grandmother Ruth passed away.

Five years later, as Andy worries that Grandma Ruth’s memory is beginning to fade, Andy leaves Chicago, including their partner, to return to Colby with an extraordinary mission in mind: to canonize their beloved grandmother as a Catholic Saint. To do this, they must approach their parents, their brother, and other members of the community to participate in interviews led by the young, hip, tech-savvy bishop, who is vying for online virality by posting about the process on TikTok. When the family finds out about Andy’s return, when Andy’s partner shows up unannounced, and as the canonization proceedings hit roadblocks, old secrets are revealed and old wounds are reopened as the past comes rushing back.

American Saint is a family comedy/drama with a contemporary, pop/rock score about queerness, forgiveness, and a group of ordinary characters trying to achieve something extraordinary.

Fractured

Book by Leya Graie, music & lyrics by Danielle Keiko Eyer

The Mirror (Demo)
Funeral Quartet (Demo)
  • Residency and three sold-out public readings at Playwrights’ Workshop Montréal — 2024
  • Michigan State University’s Musicalturgy New Musical Theatre Dramaturgy Collaboration — 2025

Fractured is the story of two young people: Nadia, who has been severely depressed from a young age, and Aidan, their best friend who prides herself in her ability to take care of them. The show begins with Nadia dying by suicide while Aidan is away at school and deals with the aftermath of Nadia’s death. Nadia is present on stage, existing in a dark reflection of the living world (much like the mirror world in her favourite book, Alice Through the Looking Glass), as she desperately tries to lead Aidan to the suicide note she addressed to her but that was found by Alison, Nadia’s mother, first. Despite her child’s death, Alison is frantically trying to keep up the outward image of a perfect family—an image that certainly does not include a suicide note with no mention of herself—and decides to keep the note from Aidan. Meanwhile, Aidan is equally desperate to discover why Nadia decided to end her life, convinced that there must be a reason she can pinpoint or a person she can blame.

Cassie and Finn are just meant to be! Cassie has known this for the past four years, ever since that fateful day when Finn saved her life and left her forever changed. When Cassie impulsively switches into drama class to follow Finn and his long-time girlfriend, Rora, she is thrust onto a stage she never wanted to be on but begins to discover how her innate talents might translate to stage management and lighting design. In the meantime, she can work on her great equation: the one that will tell her how to break up Finn and Rora for good so she can finally be with her true soulmate.

Cassie Silver’s New Entropic Equation! is meant to be performed for audiences ages 10-15 and performed by middle school students ages 11-14.

Original Fan Songs

Originally named the “Filling in the Gaps Project,” these pieces began as a way to experiment with instrumentation/orchestration by composing songs inspired by existing media, such as films, TV shows, and musicals.

Children’s Film & TV

Through these songs, a passion for composing for children’s media developed and grew into a fully fledged dream to one day work on a children’s animation project as a composer/lyricist. This desire was sparked when I composed the entire score for a children’s show that was pitched to Disney but never greenlit. This specific project drew a small but dedicated audience to my channel, wracking up a total of over 650,000 views. All the songs from this project can be found in this playlist.
